Is Kinesthetic Christianity Biblical?

Well, there’s Thomas.

I’m not sure he was the first kinesthetic Christian but he’s kind of our standard-bearer.

“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” ~ John 20:25b

He had missed the first showing and he wasn’t gonna just take people’s word for this. Trustworthy as his friends were, he wanted to see (and feel) for himself. If it was really the Christ, he would…know it!

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”  Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” ~ John 20: 26-29

It’s not that I don’t believe it until I see it, it’s that I won’t believe it until I can confirm it.

God knew Thomas, called the doubter, and God knows me. When I behold the truth, may I proclaim as Thomas did,

“My Lord and my God!”
